A recent article in the TPM points out that military divorces are on the rise. It is no wonder with the back to back wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The stress of being deployed overseas and the struggling economy in America are really pushing these couples to the brink.
There have been more than 600,000 troops who have served more than one tour of duty. Many of them missing holidays, birthdays, and special occasions. It can be a very lonely sad life, and marriages pay the price.
Foreclosure rates are also on the rise for military families. The tough economy is making it harder for the spouse at home to pay the bills and support the families.
With the newly elected president, hopefully the troops will get some much needed relief this coming year.
