Apparently in Cuba, Divorce can be completed in a matter of 20 minutes. The Associated Press is reporting that in communist Cuba, where there are little issues of property and alimony theres hardly anything to fight over.
Compare that to divorce in California, where the minimum divorce time is 6 months and 1 day. That’s if all parties are in complete agreement and its a simple divorce. I always tell my clients the four big areas that couples need to decide upon are, Alimony, Property, Child custody, and child support. So with two of those areas knocked out, the process can be streamlined.
While the 20 minutes seems like a blessing, the flip side to that benefit is that in Cuba the couples usually have to end up living in the same house together after the divorce because of the shortage of housing. Can any American divorcee imagine living with their ex spouse after finalizing a divorce in the same house often for years while the government creates new housing.
