I came across an article today about shared custody in divorces. In June 2018, Kentucky will become the first state to require a presumption of equally shared parenting in child-custody cases even when one or more parents is opposed. There will, of course, be considerations when domestic violence is involved; however, this is also not to presume the domestic violence consideration necessarily be male on female!
The article states that Kentucky governor Matt Bevin signed the bill that states “that joint custody and equally shared parenting time is in the best interest of the child” in almost all divorce cases. This is a big win for Father’s rights.
Recent years have seen dramatic shifts in the attitudes vis-à-vis parenting, the importance of both fathers’ and mothers’ roles in child rearing, and a large body of new research debunking the myth that mothers are entirely superior caregivers for children.
Father’s rights are an important aspect of securing custody in divorce. Whether you are a father securing time with your children, or a mother wanting to change visitation scheduling, it is important to get experienced advice of how to best proceed to achieve a desired outcome.
